Authors' Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Integrated Social Sciences and Wellbeing (JISSAW) must adhere to the following guidelines to ensure alignment with the journal’s interdisciplinary scope and international standards of publication ethics.

Manuscript Structure and Content

  • Title Page: Submit a separate file containing the manuscript title, all author names, institutional affiliations, ORCID IDs, and the corresponding author’s contact details.
  • Abstract: Provide a non-structured summary (max 250 words) outlining the research purpose, methodology, key findings, and significance. Avoid technical jargon or citations.
  • Keywords: Include 3–6 keywords that reflect the manuscript’s focus (e.g., "social policy," "psychological wellbeing," "physical education," "human flourishing").
  • Main Body: Organize original research into standard sections: Introduction (rationale and objectives), Methodology (design, participants, and ethics), Results (concise findings with visuals), Discussion (interpretation and limitations), and Conclusion.
  • Declarations: All manuscripts must include an Authors contribution statement, Conflict of Interest statement, Ethical statement, Funding Disclosure (or "No funding received"), and an optional Acknowledgements section for non-author contributors.

Formatting and Citation Standards

  • General Formatting: Use 12-point Times New Roman font, single-spaced, with 1-inch margins. Use SI units and define all abbreviations at their first mention.
  • Tables and Figures: Embed all visuals within the text at appropriate points. Figures must be high-resolution and tables must be in an editable Word format (APA 7th edition format).
  • Referencing Style: Strictly follow APA 7th Edition for in-text citations and the reference list.

    • Book Example: Smith, J. (2024). The Sociology of Human Flourishing. Academic Press.

Article Types

  • Original Research: Detailed empirical studies (≤3,500 words, excluding references).
  • Review Articles: Systematic reviews or meta-analyses synthesizing literature on social sciences and wellbeing (≤5,000 words).
  • Short Communications: Brief reports on methodological innovations or pilot studies (≤1,500 words).
  • Policy Briefs/Commentaries: Opinion pieces on emerging social policies or trends in physical education and health (≤1,200 words).

Ethical Requirements and Submission

  • Ethical Approval: Studies involving human participants must provide evidence of institutional ethics board approval and participant consent, adhering to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
  • Anonymization: Ensure the main manuscript file contains no author identifiers to maintain the integrity of our double-blind peer-review process.
  • Required Files: A complete submission includes the Anonymized Manuscript, Title Page, and a signed Authors’ Declaration Form.
