Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy
The Journal of Integrated Social Sciences and Wellbeing (JISSAW) is committed to the permanent preservation of its scholarly record. We recognize that digital content can be fragile, and we have implemented robust measures to ensure that our authors' research remains accessible to the global community for generations to come, regardless of any potential technological or organizational changes.
1. The PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)
JISSAW utilizes the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN) to digitally archive all published articles. This network provides a free and reliable preservation service for journals managed through Open Journal Systems (OJS).
2. The LOCKSS Program
The PKP PN functions on the principles of the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) program, developed by Stanford University Library.
- Decentralized Archiving: When an issue is published in JISSAW, the content is automatically harvested and stored in a decentralized network of library servers around the world (Dark Archives).
- Trigger Events: In the unlikely event that JISSAW ceases publication or goes offline, the content stored in the PKP PN will be "triggered" and made openly available through the network, ensuring no loss of scientific knowledge.
3. Self-Archiving
In addition to the PKP PN, JISSAW supports authors in self-archiving. As detailed in our Repository Policy, authors are encouraged to deposit the Version of Record (the final published PDF) into institutional repositories (e.g., university libraries) and subject-specific archives (e.g., OSF, SSRN) immediately upon publication.
